This case study examined the effectiveness of sandtray therapy with college
student who need to improve school adjustment and self-expression. The therapy
was adopted for 3 female students in oo university. They have been experienced
difficulties to adapt their college life.
The sandtray therapy emphasized on improving expressions of the students'
inner experience. The improvement of expression could be confirmed from the
transformation of sandtray interpretation during the therapy sessions. The sandtray
work offered 'symbolic experience in the protective setting' to enhancing inner
energy for school adjustment. A total of six 50-minute sessions carried out and the
measurements included a pre-test and a post-test of interviews and SACQ(Student
Adaptation to College Questionnaire). The collected data indicated that sandtray
therapy could offered safe place to express self-understanding, school adjustment
and anxiety about the future in fully. Results confirmed that sandtray therapy
improve college students' emotional, mental safety and school adjustment.
