In this study, the effect of group art therapy using fairy tales on the sense of happiness of elementary
school students was investigated. Participants for this study were 16 elementary school students in 1st
through 3rd grade at S elementary school in city U. The therapy ran for 16 sessions twice a week, 70
minutes per session from June 19, 2011 to August 29, 2011. Their sense of happiness was measured one
week before the implementation of the therapy program for a pretest, one week after the completion of the
program for a post-test, and 4 weeks after the completion of the program for a follow-up test. Data were
analyzed using an one-way ANOVA with repeated measures on the SPSS package. The findings of this
study are as follows. The results from the happiness scale showed that group art therapy using fairly tales
had positive effects on the children\'s sense of happiness and its subcategories including abilities and
inter-personal skills.
