The first purpose of this paper is to examine the education directions of nation, the
organization of national history education, through the political, economical, social situations.
And the second is to study the approach and discourse of national history and national history
education academic world that what, why content-direction suggested at National history
education curriculum in the 4th national curriculum period.
After the examination, this paper is to reach the results as follows. The first, it was
emphasized nationalism history education for establisment the national identity in this national
history education curriculum as the former, 3th national curriculum period. And its emphasis
was acted continuously on base for the independant department of national history education.
The second, a new content-direction suggested in this period, that is to train historical
thinking Power. That implied that history education academic world had developed. And the
last, in the 4th national curriculum period a another, new content-direction suggested, the
strengthening of modern·present history education focusing the Suffering-Overcom. It was
explained for training ability to encounter the difficulty of present society in this national
history education curriculum. But this new content-direction actually was linked with political
intend for military polical power at that time.
