The purpose of this research was to seek perception level of parents and teachers about
transition plan and self-determination for successful transition from school to home, from
school to work place, from school to local community, and improvement in quality of life
of mentally retarded student.
The result of this study were as follows
Firstly, in the case of comparison to perception level of teachers and parents about tran
sition plan of mentally retarded student it was indicated that in definition of transition, de
scription of the transitional goals and participation, teacher\'s perception were responded to
positive more than parents, but parent\'s responses to any negative. Also, in the case of ac
quired skill for adult period transition of mentally retarded students were teacher were res
ponded to any negative more than parents.
Secondly, in the case of comparison to perception level of teachers and parents about
self-determination of mentally retarded student it was indicated that in reflection of studen
t\' opinions, necessity of self-determination and instruction about the skill of goal establish
ment, both parents and teachers recognized to positive, in a degree of perception, parents
were responded to positive more than teachers.
