The objective of this study was to apply an empirical cognitive behavioral theory, specifically
the theory of planned behavior(TPB), identifying the relationship among attitude, subjective
norm, and perceived behavioral control affecting the intention of vocational rehabilitation
professionals to place individuals with significant disabilities into jobs based on the theory of
planned behavior-base job placement.
Data was collected from the samples of 262 vocational rehabilitation professionals at various
vocational rehabilitation institutes. The proposed research model was tested by statistical
techniques such as structural equation modeling(SEM), confirmatory factor analysis, correlation
analysis, multiple regression, and one way ANOVA.
The results of that study are as follows:
First, the result of this study indicated that the institute connections given by a community
and the job placement services for job development don`t work well together. Only when
relevant businesses or employers ask for employees, are rehabilitated individuals sent to work.
The vocational rehabilitation professionals expressed a high degree of job placement intentions
and positive attitudes. The attitude of disabled individuals towards job placement was generally
favorable.
Second, several categories were thrown out owing to the results of the first confirmatory
factor analysis. Even after getting a later confirmatory factor analysis result, only one validation
couldn`t be drawn. Therefore, the parameters that couldn`t be verified by the experimental
model were eliminated, and the rest of the existing conceptions yielded the conclusion, which
showed a satisfactory degree of reliability in the analysis.
Third, actions of vocational rehabilitation professionals behaviors widely varies according to
type of placement service, frequency, and institute.
Lastly, this study showed the overall fit for the models pre-established to ensure that it is an
adequate representation of an entire set of casual relationships. This study SEM consisting of
attitude, subjective norm, behavioral control, the intention for job placement and job placement
behavior showed that the Chi-square=88.927(df=58), GFI= .949, NFI= .910. In the field TPB,
which can predict job placement by vocational rehabilitation professionals, was verified by a
theoretical foundation and practical study. Therefore, the model of job placement behavior based on TPB will be applied to the vocational rehabilitation field in our country.
