Recent development and spread of the internet has led our society to the Age of the Internet. Now every phase of our activity has been deeply affected by the internet. And this is more so in the fields of the education, where the internet was originally developed and used as useful research tools. Recognizing the deep potentials of the internet as the teaching and learning tools from the earlier days of the internet, educators both in the university communities and in the secondary education tried to devise ways to incorporate the various tools of the internet to enhance their teaching and to help their students’ learning. History teachers should be active participants in the revolutionary changes in the fields of the education in this age of the internet. In this age of rapid progress and changes should history teachers have to change their perception of roles as teachers. Rather than to be the supplier of the knowledge and information to the students, they need to be the helper for students’ intellectual endeavors. Rather than the traditional one-way teaching method, teachers are encouraged to teach in interactive method. And students are also expected to take active part in class activities in order to achieve their educational goals. There is no doubt that the internet makes teachers’ job of motivating students and making them eager participants in classroom activities easier and more enjoyable. Some questions remain to be answered. Is it possible in our frustrating educational environment? Are both teachers and students ready to take the challenge? Are the internet resources satisfactorily placed either in school or at home? If so, what concrete strategy should teachers perform to utilize them? This paper addresses these questions, and suggests that the internet is one of the most effective tools available to make interactive teaching and learning possible in history class.
