The purpose of this study was to provide important implications for the curriculum of law, and to develop teaching methods which could improve our youths\' law-abiding spirit by analyzing the influence of the law education in official and purposeful schooling on the development of our youths\' law consciousness. To achieve this aim, this study developed a questionnaire answered by 600 male and female, third grade, academic high school students in Seoul. An examination by statistic method of the students’ scores on the legal consciousness questionnaire and the set independent variables of the study indicated a significant relationship. The results of the study indicate that: first, law education and teaching methodologies, which take into account the demographical features of the individuals, need to be developed. Second, law education in schools should consider the learners\' route for attaining knowledge, and should include improvements in teaching methods and learning materials. This would help learners to participate more and have a greater interest in law education. Third, law education suitable to the level of the learner should be implemented in order to enhance legal consciousness. To achieve this, methodical study on the level of legal consciousness of current learners must be done in advance. This study is significant in that it proposes two methods for the stimulation of the development of legal consciousness in students. Law education in schoolsl should be composed of suitable subject content that considers learners\' levels and variables, and generates interesting teaching materials. The results of this study could provide important suggestions for the establishment of policies related to law education in schools.
