This study is to evaluate the effects of weight changes, serum lipids and swimming exercise capacity in rat using a
combination of adlay intake and exercise. Exercise program with the maximum load by swimming was performed five times
for a week, observed for 4 weeks as supply the adlay according to the ratio, the results were as follows. The weight change
test showed significant inhibition in the combined group of exercise and 10% adlay diet. The group of 40% and 60% adlay
diet showed a significant weight loss. There was no significant difference among the total-cholesterol in serum lipid test for
combination of adlay diet and exercise. The HDL-cholesterol showed significant higher levels in the combined group of
exercise and 10% adlay diet. Swimming exercise capacity showed significantly among the combined group of exercise and 10%
adlay diet in swimming exercise capacity test. In conclusion, combination of exercise and 10% adlay diet showed the inhibitory
effect of weight gain, a positive effect of HDL-cholesterol generation and significant effect on swimming exercise capacity.
There is still needs for combined studies of 20%, 30% adlay diet and exercise to find out the proper ratio of adlay diet for
improving the future health.
