A sandplay therapy was tried in a 9 year old boy with anxiety who was separated from his mother since 14 months of age and grown up with certain physical abuses and neglects in a divorced family. The boy was not able to reach an adequate level of ego consciousness because of distorted family dynamics in the critical period of development and resulted in a negative emotional attribute against parents. A sequential 22 episodes of sandplay treatment were performed according to the scheduled program. Through the treatment the unsolved problems of aggression and other internalized psychological scars which were deeply suppressed in the reign of unconsciousness were thought to be ultimately risen out over the level of consciousness. Self healing process was progressively attained by passing through the repetitive conflicts and inner fights against unconsciousness. Consciousness was formed, anxiety subsided, and the peer relationship at school much harmonized. All of these improvement would be regarded as an excellent effect of the sandplay therapy.
