본 연구의 목적은 다양한 문화 및 가정환경적 특성을 지닌 학생을 위한 과학 프로그램을 개발한 후, 이 프로그램이 다양한 특성을 지닌 학생들의 과학 개념에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구는 다문화, 탈북, 저소득층 학생 7명을 대상으로 실시되었으며, 학생들은 총 16모듈(물리, 화학, 생물, 지구과학 각 영역별로 4개의 모듈) 학습에 참여하였다. 다양한 특성을 지닌 학생을 위 한 과학 프로그램은 순환학습 모형과 읽기 전략을 통합적으로 적용하여 개발되었으며, 물리, 화학, 생물, 지구과학 영역별로 문항을 선정하여 총 100문항으로 구성된 과학 개념 평가도구를 개발하여 학생들의 과학 성취도를 측정하였다. 연구 결과, 지구과학, 화학, 물리, 생물 등 모든 영역에서 통계 적으로 유의한 사전-사후 차이가 나타났다. 마지막으로 본 연구 결과의 요약, 연구 결과의 제한점 을 논의하였다.
The purposes of this study were to examine the effects of a science program, developed for students with diverse needs, on the science concepts. Seven students with multicultural backgrounds, a North Korean refugee, and students from low-income family backgrounds participated in sixteen module classes (i.e., 4 modules for each of physics, chemistry, biology, and earth science classes). The results indicated that the science program using the learning cycle model combined with reading strategies was effective in substantially increasing the students' knowledge of science concepts from pretest to posttest. The results and limitations of the study are discussed.
