The purpose of this study was to analyze the formation process of self-management through leisure experience by the relationship analysis between leisure and self-management and to suggest the effective leisure of successful self-management. For the purpose of the study, purposive sampling, one of nonprobability sampling was applied and 9 participants who actualize self-management through leisure activities. The transferred collecting data went through the process of ‘opencoding’, ‘axialcoding’ and ‘selectivecoding’ by analytical way of grounded theory of Strauss & Corbin(1990, 1998). The results of the analysis are as follows. The first, total 75 concepts were selected and 19 subcategories and six super categories were categorized from transferred data. The second, on axis of six paradigms; causal condition, situational context, major phenomenon, conciliatory condition, interaction strategy and result, the relationship of each category was investigated. . The third, through the overall outline, core category, ‘leisure reference’ can be derived. These results report the effectiveness of self-management through leisure experiences to Korean society, and they can be theoretical basis to develop the system and program that can suggest the effective leisure way for self-management.
