본 연구에서는 초등학생을 위한 과학 진로 탐색 프로그램을 개발하고, 프로그램이 학생들의 진 로 인식과 과학 관련 태도에 미치는 효과를 탐색해 보았다. 학생들이 흥미를 가질 수 있으며 과학 탐구 실험 활동에 적합한 다섯 가지 영역을 선정하고, 각 영역에서 특정 주제를 정하여 14개의 탐 구 실험 활동을 계획하였다. 탐구 실험 활동과 과학 진로 탐색 활동이 연계될 수 있도록 진로 탐색 활동을 구성하였다. 사전 검사로 진로 인식 검사와 과학 관련 태도 검사를 실시하였고, 개방형 질문 을 통하여 학생들의 직업에 대한 인식을 알아보았다. 개발한 과학 진로 탐색 프로그램을 14명의 초등학생들에게 120분씩 일주일에 한 번, 14차시 동안 방과 후 수업 시간을 이용하여 적용하였다. 사후 검사로 진로 인식 검사와 과학 관련 태도 검사를 실시하였고, 학생들에게 프로그램을 통해 직 업에 대한 인식이 어떻게 달라졌는지 서술하도록 하였다. 과학 진로 탐색 프로그램의 적용 후, 학생 들의 진로 인식과 과학 관련 태도는 모두 통계적으로 유의미하게 변화하였다(p<.05). 진로 인식과 과학 관련 태도의 하위 영역 중, 특히 ‘직업에 대한 관심’, ‘과학에 대한 태도’와 ‘과학적 태도’가 통 계적으로 유의미하게 향상되었다(p<.05). 프로그램 적용에 따른 학생들의 직업에 대한 인식 변화 결과를 바탕으로 과학 진로 탐색 프로그램의 개발 시 고려해야 할 점을 몇 가지 제안하였다.
This study developed a science career exploration program and investigated its effectiveness on students' career recognition and attitudes related to science. Fourteen subjects attracting students' interest and appropriate for inquiry experiment activities were selected. Detailed experimental steps were planned, and science career education content related to the topic of each experiment were included. Students' career recognition and attitudes related to science were evaluated prior to the implementation of the program. Students' perceptions of careers were also surveyed. The program was implemented with fourteen primary school students for two hours per week and for fourteen class hours. After finishing the program, a post-test was administered and changes in the students' perceptions of career were surveyed. Paired t-tests indicated that the students' career recognition and attitudes related to science had improved significantly after the program (p<.05); especially, 'interest toward careers', 'attitude toward science', and 'scientific attitude' were significantly improved (p<.05). Some suggestions required for the development of the science career program were made based on the effects of the program and depending on students' prior interest in science and the changes in students' perceptions of careers.
