The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of group art therapy using Korean painting medium
on the attention of the elementary school students. The study subjects are 4-6 graded elementary school
students who go to OO elementary school in S-gu S-si. They are divided into an experimental group and a
controled group, 8 students for each group. Art therapy using Korean painting medium have been carried
out only on the subject group 14 times total, once a week for 80 minute for each session. For research
tools, the tools for measuring the focus ability was devised by H. Moosbrugger and J. Oehlschegel and
FAIR attention focus test adapted and standardized by Ohhyeonsuk(2002) was used. After confirming the
identical group through an independence sample T verification, the analysis of concentration effect of
elementary school students performed mixed analysis of variance on the overall change of attention, and
selective attention, self-control, and attention lasting which are the sub-factor of attention. Statistical
program, SPSS 12.0 was used with the collective data. In this study, the results obtained through this
process are summarized as follows. Art therapy program using Korean painting was effective in improving
attention of the elementary students. These research results taken together, group art therapy using Korean
painting medium has have a positive effect on improving the elementary school students' attention. This
study has its significance in that korean painting using program has been tried and Korean painting
medium rather than western painting medium has searched for the positive possibility for attention.
