This study aimed to investigate the mediating role of sexual behaviors in the
influence of sexual knowledge and attitude on life satisfaction among community
living older adults. Using a purposive sampling method, this study surveyed a total of
236 older adults who live in Busan metropolitan city in South Korea. The data were
analyzed with SPSS 20.0 for conducting descriptive analysis, correlation analysis, and
multiple regression analysis. The multiple regression analysis revealed the following
results. First, sexual attitude in the sample was significantly related with the level of
sexual behavior. Second, sexual knowledge and attitude had statistically significant
relationship with life satisfaction. Third, sexual behavior was not significantly
associated with life satisfaction under controlling sexual knowledge and attitude. This
results indicated that sexual behavior did not mediate the influence of sexual
knowledge and attitude on life satisfaction among the older adults. Based on the
findings of this study, several implications for social work practice and policy are
suggested.
