This study examined the effect of elastic band exercise on the isokinetic muscular strength of spinal cord injury patients’
upper limbs (effects of elastic band exercise on the isokinetic muscular strength of upper limbs in spinal cord injry patients).
Sixteen patients were randomized to (were randomly assinged to a exercise group(n=8) or a control(n=8) group. The exercise
group participated in the elastic band exercise program three times a week for 12 weeks(RPE 12-15). To analyze the data, this
article used a statistic program, SPSS 14.0, and performed ANCOVA to verify intergroup difference (ANCOVA was used to
analyze group differences. The level of significance was .05 (remove this sentence). The study procedures above produce the
following results (remove this sentence). After 12 weeks, the exercise group which had performed the elastic band exercise
(remove) showed significant increases in the isokinetic muscular strength of their shoulder joints when they rotated their right
ones external and left ones internal. Their elbow joints also indicated significant increases in the isokinetic muscular strength
when they extended their right or left ones. hei regard of the intergroup change, the exercise group showed significant
increases in the isokinetic muscular strength when they rotated their right shoulder joints internal or external, and extended
their right elbow joints compared with the control group. Therefore, it cokibe (this study) concluded that the elastic band
exercise performed with the intensity of 12 to 15 rating of perceived exertion affects (affected) the isokinetic muscular strength
of spinal cord injury patients’ upper limbs positively.
