This study presents a case of play therapy for a 5 year-old girl who shows PTSD symptoms with fear, withdrawal and sleeping problem. Besides that problems, she wouldn't go to childcare-center. The focus of this study was to understand how to deal with child's experiences of sexual abuse and trauma during the play therapy sessions. The case has 20 sessions with child-centered play therapy. The therapist provided her with a safe and protected environments; the child could freely express her fear, anxiety, and other negative feelings through symbolic play activities and sand play. Through the series of play sessions, the child presented her experiences of sexual abuse symbolically by washing her body using the sand. She specified her fear and anxiety resulting from the PTSD through drawing a ghost. Also, her self-esteem was improved by the game with therapist. All of this processes were selected and initiated by the child. This study helped to understand specific process which the child express and deal with her trauma symbolically under the play situation through child-centered play therapy.
