There have been several attempts in philosophy of technology to confront the challenges posed by modern technological society. In this article, these attempts are classified into two: ethics of technology and politics of technology. The first section is about ethics of technology, which can be divided into three different approaches: ethics of modern technological civilization, ethics of individual technologies, and ethics of engineers. The second section concerns with politics of technology, which can be represented by theories of democratizing technology. After analyzing the achievement and shortcomings of ethics of technology and politics of technology respectively, in the third section, politics of techno-logy will be suggested as a new alternative. In the politics of techno-logy, the broader concept of good society and the concrete concerns about modern technology are combined. This can encompass the perspective of classical philosophy of technology and the strive for concreteness in the empirical turn at the same time.
