The purpose of this study was to analyze whether elementary underachievers
could achieve a mastery level as the responsiveness to a Horang-ee Sentence
Writing Strategy intervention within three months as a RTI tier 2, and whether
they could show the responsiveness on their Korean language achievement
after the intervention. To achieve these purposes, five fifth underachievers were
pretested both on the Strategy and the Korean language, took the Strategy
intervention after school, and were probed every session. After tier 2
intervention, the researchers analyzed their responsiveness both to the Strategy
and the Korean language achievements by ABA design with t-test.
The research result showed that the elementary underachievers could
achieved over mastery level on the sentence writing strategy and responded on
their language achievement too. Their average pretest achievement on the
strategy was 28.6%, but the average of the posttest reached over 90%. Their
average language achievement on the pretest was 51.2%, but their posttest was
71.2% as a group responsiveness. The t-test on the mean difference showed .01
significant level. As an individual responsiveness to the intervention, each
underachievers showed their responsiveness to the Strategy and their language
achievement. However, their responsiveness to an intervention for a short term
period may not maintain or continue over semesters, which might bring in
another issue, so was discussed in the discussion.
