The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in mothers' sensitivity and infants'
responsiveness according to both mothers' and infants' demographic characteristics. The number of
participants of this study was 40 mother-infant dyad. To accomplish the purpose of this study,
Mothers' sensitivity and infants' responsiveness were coded by Emotional Availability scale(EA,
4th ed.,2008,) and analyzed by using two-way ANOVA. The result shows that there was main
effect for mothers' sensitivity according to mothers' job status and also for mothers' sensitivity and
infants' responsiveness according to infants' gender and age. Therefore, this study illustrates that
employed mothers showed lower sensitivity than unemployed mothers and mothers tend to be
more emotionally related to their daughters than sons and infants' responsiveness to their mothers
increases as the infants get older.
