Identification, a concept introduced by Freud, refers to the process that leads the child to think, feel, and behave as though the characteristics of another person---usually a parent in the case of a young child---belong to him or her. we have discussed here some identification theory based on classical Freudian theory, masculinity and femininity are acquired through a process of identification, which results from castration fear on the part of the male child and castration anxiety on the part of female child. Many points on the development of identification were discussed including imitation learning theory and social learning theory. We concluded that the differences among viewpoints on identification development are refered their definition about the term ‘identification.’ The differences of their identification theories could be described briefly as follows; 1. Presence or absence of emotional tie between S-M. 2. Possibility or not of identification when mother is absence. 3. The necessity of external reinforcement. 4. The characterics of reinforcement. 5. The definition of modeling. 6. According to defining of stimulus or response.
