This research is a Sandtray Therapy case study that examines a child with trauma caused by a birth defect who underwent harsh surgeries twice. In this case, the mother was unstable emotionally during her pregnancy and delivery because she already knew that her baby had a disability. When this study was first taken, the child often showed not only frequent emotional instability for him but also the child was withdrawn, which made it difficult to make up his mind and express his thoughts. To solve this problem, Sandtray Therapy was taken 23 times in total. The aim of this study was to analyze Sandtray Therapy’s effect and processes for a child with trauma. According to the results of this study, while experiencing the therapy, he overcame his trauma and his self-esteem progressively improved. There are three main stages presented, each with different subject. The initial stage of the therapy, which was called the animal-plant step, was chaotic for the participant. During the middle stage, the patient dealt with the concepts of struggle and death. The final stage was centered on reunion and rebirth.
