This study was to verify whether sandtray therapy has an effect on marriage migrant women’s depression and self-development stage. The subject of this study is a marriage migrant woman who is dwelling in D county of Jeollanamdo since Fabrury 2007. She complained of depression and nurturing her child going to nursery. The counselling took 20 sessions in total. I did a quantitative analysis on her depression with Radlloff(1977)’s CES-D(The center for Epidemiologic studies-Depressed mood scale). I did a qualitative analysis on the process of sandtray therapy to estimate the change of self-development, by subdividing animals and plants stage, struggle stage, community adaptation stage and dividing each session into the early, middle, latter period, based on Neumann(1954) and Dora Kalff(1986)’s theories. As the marriage migrant woman’s unexpressed and oppressed depression being dissolved through the sandtray therapy, her child nurturing problem was also solved. Therefore, it was verified that sandtray therapy did have an effect.
