본 연구에서는 미술치료사가 미술치료의 유형 중에서 특히 임상미술치료 전문가가 되기 위해 준비해가는 과정에서 어떠한 체험을 하는지 탐색하고 그 의미와 본질을 이해하고자 한다. 이는 미술치료사가 정신과 에서 진단받은 환자를 대상으로 임상미술치료를 하게 될 때 준비도를 갖게 하고, 임상 현장에서 자리매김 하는데 도움을 주며, 임상미술치료 전문가 과정을 구축하는데 초석이 되는 것에 목적을 두고 있다. 인간의 체험에 관심을 갖고 그들이 경험하는 것에 대해 심층적으로 이해 할 수 있도록 도와주는 Max van Manen의 해석학적 현상학적 질적 연구 방법론을 적용하고 있다. 본 연구는 2013년 4월에서 2013년 5월까지 자발적으로 참여의사를 밝힌 연구 참여자를 심층면접 했다. 연구 참여자는 총 6명으로 임상미술 치료 분야에서 전문가가 되고자 준비하고 있는 사람들로 구성되어 있다. 이들은 석사과정 중 정신과에서 1년 이상 임상실습을 하고, 석사 졸업 이후 정신과에서 진단을 받은 환자를 1년 6개월 이상 3년 미만 임 상미술치료 한 경험이 있는 미술치료사이다. 연구 참여자들에게 심층면접을 실시한 결과, 연구문제에 따 른 8개의 본질적 주제와 20개의 하위 주제를 산출하였다. 이를 토대로 본 연구에서는 임상미술치료 전문 가가 되기 위해 준비해가는 과정 중인 연구 참여자들을 통해 다음과 같은 4가지의 결론을 내리고 있다. 첫째, 임상미술치료사는 치료진과 환자들 사이에서 중간자 역할을 하게 되고, 환자의 보호자에게는 상담자 및 교육자 역할을 하게 된다. 둘째, 임상 현장에서 정신과 임상실습 때보다 실수가 줄었음을 알게 되고 그것을 바탕으로 성장한 본인의 모습을 발견하면서 임상실습의 중요성을 알게 되며, 환자가 가진 본연에 모습에 다가가기 위해서 환자의 가족, 환경, 기질 등 다각도로 접근하려는 시도를 한다. 셋째, 임상미술치료 현장에서 미술치료가 환자 스스로 탐색할 수 있게 하고 환자와 소통하는데 중 요한 접근이라는 것을 재인식하게 되며, 미술치료사로서 미술작업과 미술언어를 다루는 것에 대한 자부심을 갖게 되며 임상미술치료사의 정체성을 갖게 된다. 넷째, 임상미술치료를 자신 있게 다루는 임상미술치료 분야의 전문가가 되고자 하는 의지를 갖게 되고, 지식의 심화를 도모하며 내적인 자기성장의 욕구를 가지게 된다.
The purpose of this Hermeneutic Phenomenological Understanding is to explore what types of experiences “Clinical Art Therapist” trainees could encounter during the process of becoming better professionals and to understand the true nature and meaning of such experiences. In essence, this is to prepare professional art therapists for their actual performances of clinical art therapy on diagnosed psychiatric patients in the field, to assist new professionals to settle successfully in their professions, as well as to lay a solid foundation upon which they will build their art therapist careers. In this research we have actively applied Max Van Manen's Hermeneutic Phenomenological Understanding on Lived Experience methodology that helps us to gain deeper understanding and insights into human experiences. The research performed a series of in-depth interviews with voluntary participants from 2013 April to 2013 May. The total of 6 voluntary participants consisted of those who had performed at least 1 year of clinical art therapies at psychiatries during their master's programs or those who already had obtained their master's degrees and also performed actual clinical art therapies on diagnosed psychiatric patients for at least 1 and a half years, but no longer than 3 years. This specific pool of research participants resulted in 8 fundamental topics and 20 sub topics on this research matter. Based on these topics and the inputs from participants who are yet to be refined professional clinical art therapists, our research has reached to following four conclusions. Firstly, clinical art therapists are important intermediaries between patients and psychiatrists as well as educators/consultants of patients' guardians. Secondly, clinical art therapists are likely to realize that clinical training helped them reduce the number of mistakes and understand the importance of clinical training in the field. As a result, they will make various attempts to approach patients' true characters such as their families, personalities, and environments. Thirdly, clinical training help art therapists to recognize once again that allowing patients to freely explore themselves is one single important approach, to gain pride as art therapists who utilize art projects and the language of art to cure patients, and to discover the true identity as art therapists in general. Finally, clinical training equips clinical art therapists with strong desire to become professionals in the field of clinical art therapy and to further improve themselves in pursuit of more intensive knowledge.
