This study classifies 28 graduate school types with major in art therapy, examines requirements
for graduation based on this, and then analyzes by dividing curriculums of 18 master's degree
courses, which are opening the offered curricular subjects, into "art therapy, research
methodology, clinical practice, and psychology" of 4 spheres. Thus, the aim is to make basic
data of stability curriculums for art therapist training. As a result of surveying the curriculums
of 18 master's degree courses after examining the type classification and the graduation
requirement for 28 graduate schools with major in art therapy, the four conclusions can be
made as follows. First, 28 master's degree courses with major in art therapy are classified into
types in two 28ths of general graduate schools, two 28ths of professional graduate schools, and
twenty-four 28ths of specialized graduate schools. Seeing the requirement for graduation based
on types, two seconds of general graduate schools, one second of professional graduate schools,
and five 24ths of specialized graduate schools are required the submission of thesis as the
requirement for graduation. One second of professional graduate schools and nineteen 24ths of
specialized graduate schools come to select out of thesis or additional-credit completion..
Second, the graduate schools where are offered the all types of curricular subjects in the art
therapy sphere is professional graduate schools based on university. Most of graduate schools,
curricular subjects, which art offered much in common in this sphere, include art therapy
introduction, art-making, group art therapy, art therapy evaluation, and classified according to age.
Curricular subjects, which are offered much in common in this sphere, include curricular
subjects of art therapy introduction(eighteen 18ths of graduate schools), art therapy technique
and medium(sixteen 18ths of graduate schools), group art therapy(eleven 18ths of graduate
schools), and art therapy evaluation(nine 18ths of graduate schools). Curricular subjects, which
were offered the most in the psychology sphere, were surveyed to be psychotherapy or
psychological test(twelve 18ths of graduate schools). Thus, the psychotherapy or psychological
test in psychology sphere was opened more than art therapy evaluation in art therapy major.
Third, it was surveyed to be two 18ths of master's degree courses that are opened the
statistical or research methodology and the qualitative research methodology, to be fifteen 18ths
of master's degree courses that are opened the statistical or research methodology, and to be
one 18th of master's degree courses that are opened the curricular subject of research
methodology. In light of this, most of them are being addressed focusing on a quantitative
research. Fourth, there are graduate schools of being addressed during 1 semester(eight 18ths of
graduate schools), 2 semesters(three 18ths of graduate schools), 3 semesters(three 18ths of
graduate schools), and maximally 4 semesters(one 18th of graduate schools) including graduate
schools (three 18ths of graduate schools), which are not being addressed the clinical practice
sphere with curricular subject. Hence, weight on clinical-practice sphere is being varied
according to graduate school.
