The purpose of this program is to develop a group art therapy program for shelter-resident children to
improve their emotional intelligence. To reach the goal, I analyzed the characteristics of the children and
previous researches regarding emotional intelligence and searched factors affecting their social relationship.
After that, I made structural elements for this program and created a draft. Then I carried out
preliminary programs and corrected them repeatedly. Finally, I made the group art therapy program for
shelter-resident children. This program is divided by 3 levels considering emotion recognition and
expression, emotion facilitation in thoughts, application of emotional knowledge, and emotion control which
are lower parts of emotional intelligence and development of recognition ability, emotion development, and
expansion of subjects which are psychiatric mechanism. Also, this program is based on recent emotional
intelligence model.
