퇴계(退溪)는 도산(陶山)에 완전히 거처하기 이전에는 와유(臥 遊)를 통하여 은일을 꿈꾸고 지수인산(智水仁山)의 경지를 추구 하였다. 퇴계는 산수를 놀이 공간으로 보지 않았다. 재덕자의 우 불우(遇不遇)를 가탁하는 비유물로 이용하지도 않았다. 퇴계에게 산수(山水)는 궁극의 진리체를 상징하였다. 일상적 관심 밖에 놓 여있는 참 경치의 발견은 곧 도체(道體)의 자득을 의미하였다. 퇴계는 산수유람의 전 과정을 진리체의 궁구 과정으로 상징하고 구도 정신을 가탁하였다. 의론을 노출하지도 않았고, 옅은 비유 를 사용하지 않았다. 상징의 방식으로 구도의 지향과 체험을 함 축하였다는 점에서 그의 글은 고도한 문학성을 띠고 있다고 말 할 수 있다. 여기서는 퇴계의 산수유기 및 유관 시문의 현황과 기왕의 연 구 주제를 살펴보고, 앞으로 연구해야 할 과제에 대하여 논하기 로 한다. 종래의 연구를 바탕으로 심화시켜야 할 논제는 다음과 같다. ① 퇴계 산수유기와 선행 유기와의 관계에 대한 조명 ② 주희의 산수유기 및 『남악창수집』과의 비교를 통한 퇴계 산수유람의 방식과 심미안의 검출 ③ 남명 조식 등 동시대의 유산 기록 및 자연미 감상태도와의 비교 ④ 퇴계 산수유람에 나타난 정명(正名)의 태도에 대한 고찰 한편 앞으로 더 진행하여야 할 과제는 다음과 같다. ① 유산 당시의 시와 문을 교직하여 산수유람의 흥취와 미적 형상화 방식을 재구성 ② 퇴계 산수유기에 대한 후대인의 계승 양상에 대한 연구 ③ 퇴계의 산수미학의 전체적 조망 또한 퇴계의 산수유기는 다양한 사상감정을 포괄한다. 앞으로 도 퇴계의 산수유기가 담고 있는 넓고 깊은 내면세계를 새로운 시각에서 조명하여야 할 것이다.
Before do dwelling in the Dosan(陶山), Toegye(退溪) dreamed retirement through lying down sightseeing(臥遊) and sought Jisooinsan(智水仁山) condition. Toegye(退溪) did not think of the landscape as playing place. Toegye(退 溪) did not use figure of speech as pretending someone's meeting right time-no meeting who has talent and virtue. A landscape symbolized ultimate truth to Toegye(退溪). Discovery of genuine landscape had put out of daily interest meant apprehension of Tao's form(道體). Toegye(退溪) symbolizes whole process of landscape sightseeing by exhaustive investigation process of truth and pretends seeking after truth(求道)'s mind. Toegye(退溪) did not expose argument, and unused shallow figure of speech in the record of landscape journey. In terms of implied intention of composition and experience by way of symbol, his writing can speak that is wearing high character of literature. Here, examine Toegye(退溪)'s the record of landscape journey and related poetry-prose(詩文)'s present condition and previous research subject, and argue about assignment that must study forward.
