Chu Ja sees that the life of reading should lead a social atmosphere in A Method of Reading of CJujaeoryu, and emphasizes that literary men should practice it by themselves. That's why he arranges a criterion of life of reading, that is, the inner acknowledgement of Seongjeungni and Rilbunsu. He does not see that his disciples practice at his criterion on it. And thus he perhaps arranges the theory of reading in a normative position. If we take a frequency of theory presentation, a relation with general theory of reading, a consistency with the Confucian thoughts, it can be said that Heosimjeongan, Gyeolgaebongha, Yeonginihae, Banbogwanmi will be major theory of reading. As there is a stem and a branch in a tree, there is also a stem and a branch in a theory of reading. It is possible to present Jonsimyangseong as a stem of theory of reading, and to present attitude?method?steps as a branch of theory of reading. The two criteria already existed before the A Method of Reading of Chu Ja. However, they are not a precise theory, and do not have a uniform system. And therefore, it is possible to suggest that Chu Ja refines the theories on reading which are handed down sporadically, and then builds up a uniform system.
