This research analyzed book buddy activity's educational meaning, which is an activity that the
one-to-one correspondence with 30 young children in day care center and 30 pre-service teacher of
fourth grade.
Research participants involved book buddy activity was kind of volunteering the regular curriculum
course, and it was done in consultation with the teachers which the schedules was not disturbed
during daily classroom management.
Once a week, in 30 minutes, buddies had reading some picture books in public space of the
nursery school by selecting in reading area, the library, and university library with theirs child buddy.
Reading a book, taking a simple linguistic activities about contents of the book within the reading
level and interests of child buddy.
Results of the study, taking on educational and individually meeting, book buddy activities had a
meaning relational. it was an opportunity for Pre-service teachers to understand the early child who
will be target of themselves service and academic activity, also they experienced the identity of
teacher, and they knew the value of child-centered education.
The children experienced notion of time while their waiting for appointed time. They have a
one-to-one special personal relationship with Buddy, Then they had not only belonging but healthy
self-esteem. Additionally, they had chance to get interested in reading picture book and literacy
enhancement.
