This study aimed at constructing a theory based on the characteristics of
emotional leadership unfolded from transformational learning by viewing the
development process of adult learners' emotional leadership from the perspective
of transformational learning with applying color therapy program. The research
findings for the study were as follows. First, the development has proceeded
through five phases, having an awareness of the necessity of challenges,
attempting the challenges, checking the changes, transforming the perspectives,
and manifesting the emotional leadership. Second, the process of transformational
learning based on color therapy program has consisted of ‘critical awareness of
his or her own state’, ‘the rational discourse’, and ‘the formation of perspective
of new meaning’. Third, the factors spurring the transformation of perspective
have been verified as ‘communication with adult learners’, ‘adult educators'
concern and care’, ‘adult learners' support and empathy’, ‘rational reflection
based on color messages’, ‘insight building through color meditation’, and ‘the
positive effects of color’. Fourth, the outcomes of transformational learning have
unfolded such emotional leadership characteristics as ‘encountering with the
authentic inner self’, ‘harmonizing and balancing emotion’, ‘being considerate of
others' emotion’, ‘sharing and unfolding the positive energy’.
