Promotion means advancement. Museum promotion refers to progress of museums. If there are sound, well-planned policies, there will be optimization of utilization of available opportunities to ensure museum progress. Museum promotion is not a matter of luck. In my opinion, it is a matter of judicious management of resources. Even the ample funds received by a museum may not bring good results if they are not smartly managed. Or, even a team of skilled workers may remain unproductive if they are not well directed. Management of museum resources is a key to its promotion. It will be interesting to refer to some new policies in the present Indian context and which are proving successful. The contemporary environment is very helpful for advancement of museum profession in India. We are no more a closed society. In the past, we were complacent or self-satisfied with our museum movement. Being an ancient country with a very long history of civilization, also with vast geographical area and second highest population, as a nation we felt that we need not compare ourselves with the achievements of any other nation.
진흥이란 진보를 의미한다. 박물관 진흥은 박물관의 발달을 언급한다. 만약 건전하고 잘 계획한 정책이 있다면, 박물관 발달을 보장하는 유용한 기회의 활용에 낙관적이라고 할 수 있다. 박물관 진흥은 '운'의 문제가 아니다. 내 견해로는 이것은 박물관 자원에 대한 분별력 있는 경영의 문제이다. 박물관에서 받은 풍부한 기금으로 그것을 빈틈없이 경영하지 않는다면, 좋은 결과를 얻지 못할 수 있다. 또한 숙련된 근로자 팀이 잘 지도되지 않는다면 그들은 비생산적으로 남을 수 있다. 박물관 자원의 경영이 박물관 진흥의 열쇠이다. 현재의 인도상황에서의 몇 가지 새로운 정책과 그것들이 성공적으로 증명되고 있는 것을 언급하는 것은 흥미로울 수 있다. 현재의 환경으로 인도에서 박물관 직업에 대한 진보는 매우 도움이 된다. 우리는 더 이상 폐쇄사회가 아니다. 과거에 우리는 우리의 박물관운동에 대해 마음속으로 즐거워하거나 자기 만족적이었다. 우리는 문명에 관한 매우 오랜 역사를 지닌 나라로서 또한 하나의 국가로서는 광활한 지리적 면적과 두 번째로 높은 인구를 갖고 있기 때문에, 우리는 어떤 다른 나라의 업적과도 우리 자신을 비교할 필요가 없다는 것을 느낀다.
