일반적으로 선사시대 유적들의 보존은 상당히 어려운 점이 많다. 발굴되어 유적의 내용이 상당 히 확인된 다음에도 사실은 이러한 유물이나 유구들이 유적지에서 확인될 수 있는 방안이 대단히 제한되어 잇기 때문에 발굴 이후에 방문객들은 전혀 그 내용을 유적지에서 확인하거나 감상할 수 있는 기회가 없게 된다. 그리고 이러한 상황은 그 유적의 보존에 여러 가지의 나쁜 영호탤 미치게 되는 것이 보통이다. 유적의 중요성을 이해할 수 있는 기회가 줄어들기 때문에 유적의 보존해야하 는 당위성을 설명하는 기회가 줄어들게 되고 결국 사회적인 공감대형성에 실패하게 되는 것이다. 적어도 이러한 유적지들이 보존되기 보다는 방치되게 되고 또한 폐허로 변하고 드디어 주민들의 원성의 대상이 되는 경우가 있는 것이다.
Prehistoric cultural festival at archaeological sites would help to preserve the sites without any serious change of the structure of the site. Prehistoric sites may not have any spectacular things for visitors except some of monumental structures like dolmens. Therefore. festival consisted of many activities and performance related with prehistoric life and other archaeological topics would provide very efficient means to draw public attention to the site. The prehistoric cultural festival at a National Monument of the Chongokni Paleolithic site. which was created in 1993 for the first time. has been expanded every year. to an extent of a half million participants for a week in 2006. The popular festival draw governmental and public attention to the preservation of the Chongokni site and eventually bring out a wonderful fi.eld museum which will be a permanent facility for preservation and active use of the site. The Chongokni festival would be one of the best model how we have to develop strategies to preserve important archaeological sites against negligence and destruction by unconcerned people.
