박물관은 유물을 수집， 연구， 보존， 전시하여 대중에게 공개하는 사회， 문화적 공간이자 교 육기관이라고 간단히 정의할 수 있다 그러나 최근 들어 이러한 정의를 기본적으로는 충족하 면서도 각각의 기능에 대한 비중이 변화된 새로운 개념의 박물관들이 속속 설립되고 있다. 일 례로 발표자가 근무하였던 청계천문화관의 경우 실제 유물보다는 모형이나 영상을 위주로 한 박물관으로， 서울시 정책의 일환이었던 청계천의 복원사업과 더불어 설립된 점에서 홍보 및 마케팅차원에서의 대내외적인 교류가 매우 활발하게 이루어지고 있다기 뿐만 아니라 복원사 업의 마지막 지점인 고산자교 근처에 건립된 청계천문화관 바로 앞에 흐르고 있는 청계천 자 체가 야외박물관의 역할을 하고 있는 점에서도 특기할 만하다. 이는 실제 유물의 수집과 전시 의 기능이 활발한 박물관에서 유물과 전시실을 중심으로 이루어지고 있는 박물관교육과는 다 른형태의 교육적 활동이 청계천문화관과같은새로운형태의 박물관에서 요구됨을의미한다.
This study is to show the case of children education program of the Cheong Gye Cheon Stream Museum, which tit1ed P1ay and Learn with B1ocks , Cheong Gye Cheon Stream Restoration. This program aimed to 1et children experience the past and the present and think about the future of Cheong Gye Cheon Stream. The contents of program were consisted of 3 parts , which were "Shantytown has been created' , 'Cheong Gye Cheon Stream has disappeared and 'Cheong Gye Cheon Stream is running again . These contents about Cheong Gye Cheon Stream history from 1950 s and to 2000 s were modified according to the 1eve1 of children. Those mentioned 3 parts are the key-points in understanding the deve10pments of Seoul. Therefore , it wou1d be meaningfu1 for the Cheong Gye Cheon Stream Museum as a branch of Seou1 Museum of History to try this program. The result of this trial showed that the young children aged 7-10 years old cou1d expand their imagination about Seou1 through the understanding of Cheong Gye Cheon Stream history. Therefore , this study made me to suggest that creation of educational contents and instruments is essential element in children education of history since the communication between the museum and visitors is regarded as an important ro1e of an urban history museum.
