This study is to show the case of children education program of the Cheong
Gye Cheon Stream Museum, which tit1ed P1ay and Learn with B1ocks , Cheong
Gye Cheon Stream Restoration.
This program aimed to 1et children experience the past and the present and
think about the future of Cheong Gye Cheon Stream. The contents of program
were consisted of 3 parts , which were "Shantytown has been created' , 'Cheong
Gye Cheon Stream has disappeared and 'Cheong Gye Cheon Stream is
running again . These contents about Cheong Gye Cheon Stream history from
1950 s and to 2000 s were modified according to the 1eve1 of children. Those
mentioned 3 parts are the key-points in understanding the deve10pments of
Seoul. Therefore , it wou1d be meaningfu1 for the Cheong Gye Cheon Stream
Museum as a branch of Seou1 Museum of History to try this program.
The result of this trial showed that the young children aged 7-10 years old
cou1d expand their imagination about Seou1 through the understanding of
Cheong Gye Cheon Stream history. Therefore , this study made me to suggest
that creation of educational contents and instruments is essential element in
children education of history since the communication between the museum
and visitors is regarded as an important ro1e of an urban history museum.
