In a museum, there are many ongoing activities such as collection , survey,
research , storage , exhibition , education , cultural event and so on. These
activities do not exist in a museum solitarily but interdependently with other
museums. Collection and following research and arrangement of the collections
are the first steps of consolidating primary information in a museum. The
second steps are the exhibition , storage , education and event which are the
visible museum works. Since the research and consolidated information are the
base for exhibition , storage , education and event , the survey and arrangement
of collections are significant to any museum. Although it is so important to
have a specialist for survey and arrangement of the collections , many private
museums do not have specialist due to financial problem. The National and
public museums consistently progress esurvey and arrangement of the
collections with various ways and improved methods: however, private
museums cannot follow this. Onyang folk museum have surveyed and arranged
the collections since it opened: though , its contents are not sufficient. There
are (1) collecting relics , survey, and arrangement for preparation of opening
the Museum , (2) excavation of folk tomb , survey and arrangement of
excavated relics , (3) research and arrangement for purchased collection (4)
survey and arrangement collected pictures for the special exhibition (5) survey
and arrangement for the government project. The survey and arrangement that
Onyang folk museum did were not interactional correlative. These problems
are found in not only Onyang folk museum but almost all the private
museums. In order to overcome this problem, private museums need to support
from the government and local organizations. The improvement of private
museums can be achieved through only practically and realistically supporting
movements. It is a good sample that building and enlarging the needful
storages with advanced technology. and supporting a great deal amount of
finance are gradually extended by the successor of the Museum. The private
museums will be able to survey and arrange their collections consistently with
the practically supporting policies. Through the survey and arrangement of the
collections . it is found that difficulties of the private museums are serious.
Therefore. both the governments and private museums should approach with
pragmatic policy so that private museums can solve their problem and
administrate the collections satisfactorily.
