A museums is a non-profit organization for social and public cultural promotion. In modern society, not only its traditional functions such as collection, preservation and succession but also those regarding education, exhibition and research have importance. As knowledge-based society has come, museums are going through rapid changes in terms of social and cultural functions and roles. And as the roles that society expects from museums have changed, museums in modern society are striving to find ways to establish their identity and secure operation competitiveness. In this circumstance, this study will bibliometrically analyze the titles of masters' and doctors' theses that are related to museum management, then conduct knowledge structure analysis of museum management-related research including subject classification of resources, founders, legal requirements for registration, social functions, components, functions and roles, thereby suggesting a plan for efficient operation and functional establishment.
