The purpose of this study is, by grasping factors that influence depression and anxiety of university
students, focusing on stress and coping style, to accumulate baseline data to help them adjust themselves
to school and social life. The study results are as follows. First, for factors that influence depression, it
turned out that male students have a higher level of depression as they experience more stress related to
values. And it turned out that female students have a higher level of depression as they experience more
stress in the relationship with friends and related to values, and their level of depression decreases as they
seek social support for a stress coping style. Second, for factors that influence anxiety, it turned out that
male students have a higher level of anxiety as they experience more stress in the relationship with friends
and related to values, and their level of anxiety decreases as they seek social support for a stress coping
style. And it turned out that female students have a higher level of anxiety as they experience more stress
in the relationship with their families and friends, and use avoidance for stress coping style, and their level
of anxiety decreases as they seek social support for a stress coping style. Based on these results, this study
tried to discuss measures that can support university students to adjust themselves to school and social life
and improve their mental health.
