Currently the number of museums and art museums in Korea reach almost
500 instructions. The reason for such growth in the number of museums is
perceived attributable to elevated cultural recognition and higher interests on the
cultural enjoyment come from the improved quality of people's life.
Museums and art museums are presently placed in a time point to
correspond more actively to public cultural service. Experiential learning and
education programs can be referred to as a medium to expand its functions, as
you see, the expansion of the functions of museums and art museums is through
professionals, Curators.
However the plight of the museums and art museums are yet inferior and
the support from policy-making authorities are insufficient, which does not allow
certified curators go straight into jobs, therefore curator certification systems are
faced limitations in a certain part.
This thesis seek to examine curator certification system focusing on the
problems emerged in the implementation of quasi-curator certification examination
and the application of curator certification system. Staying unsatisfied not being
able to present clear alternatives by way of micro-level study, I hope that this
unfinished study lay foundation and actively used in seeking various alternatives
and development plan in the future.
