INSEA(Intenational Society for Education through Art) was recognized favorably. In Korea in an early stage In September, 1954, right after the Korean -war, art teachers in elementary, middle and high school got together to organize the Korean chapter of INSEA named INSEA - KOREA. As Korean representatives professor Dukhyu Choi and three Korean scholars were partcipated in the 1960 INSEA, conference for the first time. INSEA - KOREA was run by membership fees and gevermment aid. Form 1960 to 1970 INSEA-KORCA contributed to holding and supporting the internaticnal exchange exhibitions of students' artworks by the help of the Korean Ministry of Education. After 1970, regardless of the efforts by professor lung Kim. president of INSEA-KOEEA, who tried to reorganize to make the best of it, its academic activities were influenced by discontinuance of the government aid and it caused disorganizat.cn of the association. The reason of inactivity and disorganization of INSEA -KOREA was the followings: 1. There has been lack of academic efforts. 2. It was not financially independent. 3. It was ruled under one-man dictatorship, no rotation of the representatives. 4. It failed to draw attention to an, art education area due to inert academic affairs. 5. There has been lack of cooperation among scholars. It is regarded that a lot of efforts should be made to decide the direction to be pursued. Also, the five problems mentioned above should be reconsidered and resclved, we are going to have a society which values education to raise good persons. Therefore. a lot of research and support on education through art should be followed.
