This article aimed to give a holistic effect process of advertising spokes-characters in respect of a fictional being, focused on how perceived presence of characters creates presence. Results are as follows: First, hedonic consumption motives have positive effects on perceived presence. Second, hedonic consumption motives have positive effects on source evaluative characteristics such as credibility, attractiveness and familiarity. Third, perceived presence has positive impact on source evaluative characteristics but has no significant impact on character preference. Fourth, need for cognition is positively related with the evaluation of source characteristics. Finally, source effect model was supported that proposed the positive relations among character preference, advertising attitude, and brand attitude. Practical implications are discussed based on these findings.
