오늘날 영국에서는 사회복지 교육의 개혁에 대한 논의가 진행되고 있다. 그 중심에는 ‘사회적 행복’ 혹은 ‘사회적 보호’를 둘러싼 담론들이 사회서비스에 대한 사회적 요구와 함께 제기되어 왔다. 2003/4학년도부터는 사회복지사 양성 과정을 자격증(디플로마) 과 정 대신 학사학위 과정에서 그 교육이 이뤄질 수 있도록 교육의 수준을 한층 강화하였 다. 본 연구는 현재 개혁 과정의 중심에 놓여 있는 영국의 사회복지 교육 과정 개혁에 서의 핵심적인 변화와 주요 사안들을 살펴보고, 각 대학의 사회복지학과 교육 과정의 변화에 있어서 어떠한 가치들이 중요하게 다뤄지고 있는지를 구체적으로 살펴보았다. 이를 바탕으로 이 연구는 영국의 대표적인 세 대학교, 바쓰대학교, 뉴카슬대학교, 그리 고 노섬브리아대학교의 사회사업 전공 관련 학위 과정들의 교과 과정을 살펴봄으로써 오늘날 한국 대학의 사회복지 교육 변화의 방향에 시사점을 줄 수 있는 점들을 논의하 고자 한다.
Today the welfare education reform has been discussed in the UK. The core theme in the discussion is social happiness or social protection in accordance with the social needs to social services. In order to be a social worker, Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Social Work has been essential instead of Diploma in Social Work (DipSW) since 2003/4 academic year, which means that the level of education of social welfare was strengthened. Based on the transition of social welfare education this paper aims to study which value has been emphasized in the social welfare education in university curricula. The scope of the university curricula is centered on three social welfare departments in UK universities: Social and Policy Sciences of Bath University, Sociology and Social Policy Department of Newcastle University, and Department of Social Work of Northumbria University. This research shows some suggestions as to how for Social Worker to be educated and as to what the main issues should be for the future curricula in the social welfare education in Korea.
