This study is a single case study to examine whether the Mandala art therapy has influence on attention
improvement and emotional insecurity of children with ADHD. The subjects have been aimed at 4th
grade with ADHD in elementary school of K city who children-care facilities have requested a test on.
They lack attention and learning ability and have emotional insecurity and tic disorder. The programs of
Mandala art therapy have been conducted at 4 to 5 p.m on Friday, 14 times once a week from January
3rd to April 11th in 2014. To verify its effects, the changes of attention and emotional behavior have
qualitatively been analyzed through HTP drawing test and consideration at each session which can grasp
the recognition of self-image. The results are as follows. First, the recognition including spatialization, pen
pressure and emphasis of self-image has strengthened and attention has improved through HTP drawing
test and consideration. Second, as the program has been conducted through consideration at each session,
the performance of task and the attention span have increased while emotional insecurity has decreased.
Through the results of this study, Mandala art therapy has turned out to influence the improvement of
attention and the emotional insecurity.
