The purpose of this study is to provide the majority's recognition basis for the multicultural
education with reflecting the understanding of the minority’s perspective by identifying the
background factors behind the image of Zainichi Koreans' - ethnic Koreans living in Japan . of
Japanese instructors. First, on the basis of the image of Zainichi Koreans and 'Reveal and Call
Ethnic name' practices, the background factors of Japanese instructors’ image of Zainichi Koreans
were analyzed. Second, the survey was conducted to produce a re-inspection scale for verifying
this result, from which the data was analyzed by SPSS 18.0 windows: descriptive statistics,
exploratory factor analysis, and K-mean cluster analysis for categorizing instructors and
independent sample t-test, χ2 (Chi-square) test to examine the differences in identified clusters
for analyzing the tendency according to background variables of instructors. Results obtained
through the above process are as follows. First, it was found that the background factors behind
the image of Zainichi Koreans' held by Japanese instructors is a factor that is composed of
external factors. Second, a cluster analysis of the results, except for one questions scale developed
in this study were 30 questions to be suitable for identifying the inclination of Japanese
instructors the background factors behind the image of Zainichi Koreans' remaining 29 questions
were. The results of the analysis on the collected data. The male population with high career and
high ages indicated high tendency of internal-factors, and the female population with short career
and low ages showed high tendency of external-factors. This is consistent with the results
obtained through the analysis of the literature method. Lastly, based on the result of this study,
the plans of future Ethnic education of Zainichi Koreans and multicultural education was
suggested.
