The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of new sports game on decision making
skills and physical self-efficacy of students with disabilities to search the educational value of
new sports game. In order to the purpose of study, 30 students with development disabilities
were participated in an inclusive high school located in Seoul. The participants who had no
problem with perfonning motor functions, understanding of the questionnaire items were
recommended by the inclusive class teacher. A group of 15 students with development
disabilities that had participated in new sports game was compared with the similar group of 15
students with disabilities who had not A pretest-posttest control-group experimental design was
used. The results of this study were as follows.
First, the experiment group that participated in new sports game showed significantly better
decision maldng skills than the control group. This means that new sports game is an
appropriate learning methods to improve decision making skills of the stodents with development
disabilities as they repeatedly had established and executed cognitive strategy required for the
game.
Second, the experiment group that participated in new sports game showed significantly better
physical self-efficacy than the control group. This means that new sports game is an appropriate
learning methods to improve physical self-efficacy of the students with development disabilities
by repeatedly offering them the participation in the game and the opportunity for success.
As above, new sports game enhance the participation of the students with development
disabilities cause it is easy to change the rules and by using safe exercise tools. In conclusion,
new sports game is an effective learning methods than skill based badminton in a modem sports
style to improve motor ability, decision making skills, physical self-efficacy of the students with
disabilities.
