The purpose of this paper is to define the concept of good elementary social studies instruction and
present the process of instruction design and its case. The results is as follows. The good elementary social
studies instruction is consisted of basic component, support component, selection component, background
component. The good elementary social studies instruction is the instruction in that teacher understands
the educational content in deep and presents and represents the educational content in various ways and
then make student to understand educational content in deep and to applies and realizes it in real social
life(basic component). It is very important to present and represent educational content in various ways.
And high order thinking and substantive conversation, relevant teaching models must be applied in that
process(support component). And If debate is happening in the process of instruction, teacher need to solve
this debate issue through democratic procedure and values. And if there is a chance, teacher have to
combine educational content with various social studies domains and other subjects(selection component).
And Instruction must be proceed in stable, comfortable, and democratic and ecological circumstance
(background component). The design of good elementary social studies instruction consisted of understanding,
representation, selection and arrangement, adjustment. After the instructional design, Instruction, evaluation,
reflection, new comprehension are followed.
