The purpose of this study is to explore the goals and characteristic of career education for adolescents in the viewpoint of multiple intelligences theory (MIT) in order to construct more systematic and effective career education curriculum which reflects the advantages and features of MIT well.
To achieve that purpose, the following specific research activities were conducted: firstly, the basic assumptions of MIT that need to be deliberated were explored, secondly, MIT was compared with existing career education theories, and the lastly, reviewing preceding researches on MIT, the new approach of career education for adolescents based on MIT was searched.
On the basis of the research results, the direction of the career education for adolescents based on MIT can be suggested as followings
First of all, the focus of the education should be placed on the efforts to understand one\'s own potential abilities. It is essential for the youth to choose their future career areas by recognizing their inherent strength and weakness. The evaluation of these strength and weakness ought to be oriented toward assessment-centered evaluation not testing-centered evaluation.
The next, extensive career exploration needs to be emphasized by using the conceptual framework of MI. Even though a youth has already felt strong interest in a couple of jobs, still various opportunities broadly should remain opened for occupation world keeps changing.
Thirdly, attention must be attached to developing one\'s potential. According to MIT, individual\'s character and aptitude can be improved by the experience and environment.
Fourthly, the development of intrapersonal intelligence should be considered above all other intelligences. As intrapersonal intelligence is the ability that can understand one\'s own desire, need, passion, and learning strategy and apply them, it is essential for the youth to make a decision on their career in this rapidly changing world.
In this case, MIT is to be utilized in the field of career education as a basic theory, the results found out in this research need to be reflected fairly. In addition to this, personal interests and abilities that can be grasped by considering each person\'s various potential profiles have to be deliberated in the aspect of instructional methods.
