This paper explored the section of the World History on societal textbook of the middle school in the 7th educational process in order to analyze Orientalism immanent in it. It adopted the two Presses of others and four societal textbooks and divided Orientalism into three categories such as Occidentalism, Racism, Imperialism, thereby analyzing its involved contents qualitatively and quantitatively.
The consequences of the analysis are as follows; first, as now Orientalism in societal textbook is being described in the form of Occidentalism rather than Racism and Imperialism. Also here Occidentalism is being written a great deal in the mode of the superior occident than orient. The second, in it inferior orient heavily is being described as the underdeveloped, static images, while superior occident in contrast to it consists of freedom, liberty and the democratic, peaceful images in the contents. The third, Orientalism as a means of the Occidentalism still describes orient as inferior entity compared with superior occident described in the our textbook. This results suggest that the section of the World History on societal textbook of the middle school function as the legitimacy giver of occidents cultural dominance(rule).
