The purpose of this study is to investigate the current situation of special education
support center’s assistive technology support service. And identifying the demand for
special education support center’s assistive technology support service. In order to
accomplish the study’s purpose, the research was conducted by the following method.
The result is as follows:
Above all, the survey target was one personnel from each of the 201 special education
support center. However, as a result of leaving out 62 centers whose personnels refused
to respond or had no experience in the field, 139 centers remained as targets. Result
of the survey concluded that special education support center’s assistive technology
support service is highly limited. The professionalism of personnel was not secured
and there were not enough plan and budget to the service.
And, in order to recognize the factors of assistive technology support service,
websites and operating plans in four special education support centers in metropolitan
area, three in small and medium-sized cities, and three in rural area were researched.
Each special education support center centered around rental service promoting assistive
technology, acknowledging the needs in assistive technology, student information gathering,
student diagnosis, selecting and applying matching equipment, service evaluation and
equipment maintenance management.
