본 연구는 대학생의 능동적, 협동적 학습참여 및 교수와의 상호작용에 영향을 미치는 대학의 특성 을 탐색하였다. 연구 대상은 전국 29개 대학에 재학 중인 11,483명의 학생이며, 2011년부터 2013년까 지 수행된 ‘학부교육 실태조사(K-NSSE)’를 통해 수집된 자료를 분석하였다. 2011년 1학년이었던 학 생 코호트에 대하여 3년 동안 학년이 올라감에 따라 변화된 종속변인의 성장 궤적을 분석하였다. 3 수준 다층 성장모형을 적용하였으며, 제1수준에는 학생특성(성별, 고교내신 성적, 가계소득)을, 제2수 준에는 시간(연도)을, 제3수준에는 대학특성(소재지, 규모, 교육여건, 연구 경쟁력)을 포함하였다. 종 속변인의 총 변량 중 대학특성이 설명하는 부분은 6%정도로 대학생의 학습참여는 주로 개인특성과 관련이 있음이 밝혀졌다. 학생특성을 통제한 상태에서 대학특성이 능동적, 협동적 학습참여에 미친 영향을 분석한 결과, 수도권 학생들이 지방대학 학생들보다 능동적, 협동적 학습참여가 높았고, 대학 의 연구 경쟁력 수준은 재학생의 능동적, 협동적 학습참여에 부적인 영향을 미쳤다. 학생특성을 통제 한 상태에서 대학의 교육여건과 연구 경쟁력 수준은 교수-학생 상호작용에 부적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 성장모형을 분석한 결과, 3년 동안(2011-2013) 지방대학 학생들이 수도권 대학 학 생들과 비교하여 교수-학생 상호작용의 면에서 추가적인 성장을 보였다. 하지만 다른 대학특성 변인 은 종속변인의 성장률에 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다.
The study examined the effects of structural characteristics of the institution on the growth of active and collaborative learning and student-faculty interactions in Korean universities. Samples include 11,483 students from 29 universities. Longitudinal cohort data was collected from 2011-2013 K-NSSE surveys. With the hierarchical nature of the data, three-level multilevel modeling was conducted. Independent variables include Gender, High School GPA, Family Income at the student level, Year at the time level, and Location, Size, Educational Resources, and Research Capacity at the university level. Controlling for other variables, students from the Seoul metropolitan-area universities showed higher active and collaborative learning compared to students from local universities. Research capacity of the institution was negatively related to active and collaborative learning of students. Educational resources and research capacity of the institution were negatively associated with student-faculty interactions. Finally, the study found that the greater increase in student-faculty interactions from local universities in comparison with the Seoul metropolitan area universities.
