The ash generated from municipal solid waste incinerators(MSWls) in Korea accounts for approximately 16% of tot I wastes burned in the incinerators. Incinerated ash is devided inti) bottom-ash, consisting of metals, non-ferrous, glasses, ceramics, slags and other organic compound, with high water content, and fly-ash, composed of residues from off-gas treatment system Th.· bottom-ash can be recycle, after proper treatment. However most of the bottom-ash is disposed by landfill and the rest is reused , wheareas the fly-ash is presently disposed by landfill after Its stabilization and solidification, or dumped in landfill sites for hazardous wastes as its belongs to hazardous waste m Korea. Therefore, this research is focused on presenting effective recycling methods and safe treatment technologies for each residue, such as bottom-ash, fly-ash and mixed-ash by treatment technologies like pretreatment, solidification and cement process treatment.
