This study aims to suggest strategies for schools to implement 2015 national
art curriculum which was revised based on key competencies. First, through
theoretical investigation we made operational definition of curriculum implementation
to serve the purpose of this study and then drew general directions on curriculum
implementation based on 2015 national curriculum. Additionally, we analyzed the
competencies reflected on directions of 2015 national art curriculum’ nature,
objective, content structure, standards, teaching and learning method, and
assessment as well as foreign examples that gave implications on curriculum
implementation in schools.
In order to cultivate five competencies defined by 2015 national art
curriculum, we could confirm the basic directions that art lessons should be
planned and implemented based on the curriculum and explore the implementation
strategies focusing on curriculum reorganization based on teachers autonomy and
teaching and learning method and assessment based on reorganized lesson plans.
We floated the ideas for reorganizing the curriculum to develop objective,
content, teaching and learning method, assessment in accordance with 2015
national art curriculum and presented the feedback process about results and
reviews of teaching and learning method, assessment, and the whole lesson
through implementing the lesson planned by reorganized curriculum with examples.
We also suggested human resources and material supports needed for
implementation of lessons based on competency-based art curriculum.
