This study aimed to analyze previous studies on intervention programs for alcohol-addicted couple. Data
from January 2001 to November 2016 were searched. PubMed, Science Direct and CINAHL were used as
foreign search databases, and RISS and Dbpia were used as domestic search databases. A total of 2,226
papers were searched, and 19 papers were finally selected based on the selection criteria and the exclusion
criteria. In the intervention programs, there were Behavioral Couple Therapy(BCT), Alcohol Behavioral
Couple Therapy(ABCT), Parent Skills with Behavioral Couples Therapy(PSBCT), Individual-Based
Therapy(IBT) which is applied only to alcoholics and Alcohol Focused Spouse Involvement(AFSI) and so
on. Out of them, the most commonly used intervention program was the Behavioral Couple Therapy(BCT).
Analysis of the intervention program showed that the intervention programs that the spouse participated had
a more positive influences on decreasing alcohol consumption and enhancing marital relationship adjustment
level than treatment of the alcoholics only, and that the intervention programs for the couples were
important. Therefore, it should be recognized that the intervention programs to allow the spouse to
participate in together, should be also developed in Korea, and for this purpose, it is expected to try to
perform various studies.
